Frequently Asked Questions
What happens in the first therapy session?
The first session is an intake where you share your concerns, set goals, and learn how your therapist works. Your therapist will ask questions about you and your history, and you can share as little or as much as you feel comfortable with. Together you'll decide how often to meet and what you want your sessions to focus on. Many people feel nervous beforehand, and that's completely normal.
How do I choose the right therapist?
When you reach out, tell us a little about what's going on, and we'll help match you with a good fit. You're welcome to ask about a therapist's specialties, their approach (such as CBT, EMDR, or psychodynamic therapy), and their style, whether that's more directive or more reflective. Finding the right fit matters, and we want you to feel comfortable with whoever you see.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is confidential. Your therapist will not acknowledge you in public, discuss your case, or share your personal details with anyone. The limited exceptions are situations where someone is being hurt, where you may hurt someone else, or where you may hurt yourself, in which case we are required to act to keep people safe.
Do you work with 2SLGBTQIA+ people?
Yes, you are welcome here. Every therapist on our team has experience working with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+, and we work with families of all kinds. We also offer gender-affirming care and letter writing through our resident specialist.
Do you prescribe medication?
No, we do not prescribe medication at this time. Our practice does not currently have a medical provider or prescriber on staff, which means we are unable to offer medication management or write prescriptions. However, we are happy to collaborate with your primary care physician, psychiatrist, or other medical provider to ensure your treatment is coordinated and comprehensive.
Do you do ADHD/Autism assessments?
Yes, we offer comprehensive clinical assessments and differential diagnosis, including specialized evaluations for ADHD and autism. These assessments help you gain clarity about your symptoms and understand what may be contributing to your experiences. Our clinicians are trained to distinguish between overlapping conditions and provide clear, evidence-based diagnostic impressions to support your goals. Our office uses Qbcheck as part of the ADHD assessment.
What ages do you work with?
We provide therapy and testing for individuals aged four and up. Our team includes specialists in child, teen, and adult mental health, so we can support clients at many different life stages. We also run groups for specific populations throughout the year, such as teen girls and women with ADHD.
Where are you located, and what are your hours?
Our office is at 3030 Ivanrest SW, serving Grandville, Grand Rapids, Hudsonville, Jenison, and the surrounding West Michigan area. We have multiple therapists who offer telehealth and can see anyone within the state of Michigan. We're open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. The best way to reach us is by email at admin@wrightsolutions.online or by phone at 616-201-2329.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, we accept insurance. Our practice is in-network with a wide range of insurance providers, and we are happy to verify your benefits before your first appointment. For clients who prefer not to use insurance or who are out-of-network, we also offer private pay options. If you choose to pay out-of-pocket, we can provide a detailed superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan’s out-of-network policies.
